Comments
Comments: we started up the logging road past the gate. some light snomo traffic initially. we soon joined heavily travelled corridor 3 following it north to corridor 7 headed south. snomo trails had loose powder over packed base. as corridor 7 approaches stratford notch at a hard turn we left it to the west on a wide logging road. this was lightly ridden to a landing. we continued on an extension of the road briefly then started our bushwhack up towards the saddle between the peaks. some whippy regrowth, but mostly good going. breaking was moderate sinking in 6-12" with deeper punch throughs. around 2500' we adjusted to head up the north slope of goback savage finding good open woods and reasonable grades to the summit plateau. a short walk west led to the recognized highpoint. snow was drifted in and a little less stable higher up. we dropped back to around 2500' in our tracks and turned towards stratford notch mountain dropping down into the saddle in open woods with a few hobble traps. open woods initially on the ascent and then a little scrappy woods higher up, but mostly good going up to the summit and recognized highpoint. we descended in our tracks, with one brief corner cut, back to the snowmobile trails and out.
