Comments
Comments: We found a soft trail not frozen monorail at the trailhead so we switched to snowshoes from micro-spikes before heading up. Previous hikers had also worn snowshoes so we enjoyed a pretty smooth climb. The day turned out perfect and we enjoyed the views at the summit. We were leaving a pretty smooth trail behind us on the way down. There are lots of reasons for hiking without snowshoes on a soft snow covered trail and apparently just about everybody coming up as we were going down in multiple groups had one. One of our group rollled an ankle in the roughened up path and our descent became a bit less enjoyable. I would recommend wearing snowshoes If possible.
