Comments
Comments: Three adults and one teen went on a loop hike from Route 113 up Slippery Brook Trail, over South Baldface, along the ridge to North Baldface, then down the Bicknell Ridge Trail. Slippery Brook Trail was well broken by several skiers, and it continued that way up over Baldface Knob and to the summit of South Baldface. From South Baldface it was unbroken, very deep powder along the ridge. Now it is well-broken, and though we lost the trail occasionally, we mostly stayed on it so the trail is well broken. The trail down Bicknell Ridge was also unbroken and hard to follow on occasion. Occasional short steep sections between the peaks were difficult and still will be, even with snowshoes, as the loose powder was causing us to slide back. Snowshoes definitely required in the deep snow. We brought crampons and microspikes the whole way but never used them.
