Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, February 22, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot is smaller than usual, we second the earlier suggestion to slant park rather than parallel.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing at 2.3 mi is doable via rock hopping. It is a big step up to the bank from the rock we used. Wore showshoes across then barebooted at the end of the day. There is also a birch log for the more adventurous!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes:
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I imagine they'd be fine
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One pair gloves in the road before the actual trail starts. Contact me with brand, description and we'll figure out how to get them to you. The MSR snowshoe is still there at the kiosk.

Comments
Comments: We chose this route because we weren't sure how things would be on the Blueberry Ledge Trail. Spoke to a young couple who came up that way and they said there were no problems and did not feel anything was too sketchy. We had time constraint so had to turn back .6 mi from Whiteface. Trail was nicely packed for the most part, with a few drifted in spots lower down on Dicey's Mill. Sadly, someone had barebooted the lower section of Dicey's Mill, after the water crossing, so it was uneven footing for the last couple of miles. Beautiful day, just cool enough that we did not have any balling up under the snowshoes. Surface is loose enough that snowshoes seemed the best choice.
