| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Greeley Pond lot was plowed recently and is accessible. However since the most recent storm there are still unplowed sections of 3" of unconsolidated snow in the lot, and 5+" across the entrance itself, so the usual advice on low-suspension cars applies. |

Hit both peaks as out and back, with side trip to Upper Greeley Pond on the return. Wore spikes car to GP junction, snowshoes up to main Osceola peak and back to the chimney, then spikes back down to car. Saw 15 people, most wearing spikes or barebooting, a few snowshoers. Trail until East Peak is packed with some loose powder on top, it was pretty good for me on the ascent and was smooth from other sliders. It's condition will likely get much choppier today with all the boots. From the East Peak ridge to the col it was choppier and postholed in sections. I don't think the Chimney has seen any action lately - no tracks either side. There is a 2nd bushwhack (a few steps before the original ledgy one) that climbs farther to the right (north) and avoids any rock scrambles, it's mainly just packed out snow. I took this 2nd one and managed the whole bypass transaction with just snowshoes. Main summit was 17 deg F, 5 mph wind. Trail towards Upper Greeley Pond is chopped up and postholed, sort of a mess. |
