The trail was packed from top to bottom, but there were many areas in the upper half that were icy - mostly under a thin layer of snow, but occasionally just ice. I wore Hill Sound trail crampons which mostly worked well. There was just one spot a little beyond halfway which looked so sketchy that I did a short bushwhack around it. I saw one person going up that section using an ice axe, but he may have just been practicing. I saw someone else get up with crampons. No need for snowshoes, but that may change after tonight's snow. |
