Comments
Comments: Thanks to those who broke trail the day before. The trail was in excellent shape from the ski summit until the Carter Dome summit. Took a nice break at the Carter Dome Hut to refill water and grab hot cocoa. Somewhere on the way to Mt. Hight, the snowshoe tracks turned to postholes. The trail got better again somewhere on the way to the Carters.

The worst part of the hike is that because of the height of the snow pack, we were hiking through branches more or less the entire time between the Wildcat ski summit and the road, and it felt like nature was repeatedly punching us in the face and body. Because of that, the hike took longer than expected, and we ended up hiking by headlamp for the last 3 miles.

We brought ice axes just in case some of the steeper slopes were dicey, but they stayed on our packs the entire time, catching tree branches the whole way.
