Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both Lucy Brook and the 2nd river crossing after crossing the FR a 2nd time were easy. The second crossing has really steep bank on both sides but plenty of room to slide down and find a good spot to cross.

Comments
Comments: Up Red Ridge Trail, which appeared to be slightly broken out but that didn't last long. Broke trail from shortly before the first FR crossing to the top. Very very difficult breaking trail up the steep portions after the river crossing. Step, slide, step, slide. Blazes were great at the beginning. Ledges obviously required care to follow the trail but for the most part, it went where you would expect it to go. Granted visibility was great with a blue bird day. I did go off trail at the first big relatively flat ledge. Aim SW and you'll eventually find a blaze on a tree. Ledges near the top of the trail had plenty of small rock cairns visible. Moat Mtn. Trail to South Moat for the most part had a snowshoe trench in the trees. Plenty of branches at face level as you head to Middle Moat. I did not have any traction issues using snowshoes up the steep part to North Moat. Followed the faint single snowshoe track from North Moat down about halfway before ran into a hard pack snowshoe track the rest of the way back to the parking lot. Snowshoes the whole time from Red Ridge Trail start all the way back to Diana's Bath. With snow in the forecast, I think parts of the trench on the ridge might survive but I doubt my tracks up Red Ridge Trail will.
