Comments
Comments: If you need this peak for your list, do it NOW. If you wonder what it was like in the old days when Carter Dome had expansive views, go NOW. We chose this because Prema wanted to see what the 90-100 inches the Carter Notch Hut says it has on the AMC website looks like. I don't think it was quite that deep where we were, but it was amazing. To be honest, I did not enjoy a lot of this hike. I have done this a few times in the past, but never in the winter. What kind of a fool would have a minor cold all week and then hike 10 miles with 3450 elevation gain? A grateful one, because once I was up there it was all worth it.

The hike up was beautiful. Blue sky, sun, millions of birches; and you could see the Northern Pressies across the street since there are no leaves and not many evergreens at that point. I have not done too much all winter, so this was a long haul. But as the guy I met near Zeta Pass said, "We get treated to sunset on Carter Dome and Mt. Hight (for him). He looks at this website, so thanks for all your encouragement.

Go if you have the chance before all that snow melts. I had never seen Carter Dome like this before and probably won't again. Don't miss it! And, oh yeah, I would have spikes and shoes with me if I were you.
