Windy and snowy day today. Winds were fairly light at the base but became much stronger as we ascended. Ski trails were groomed with some minor drifting and one minor patch of ice. Very windy at the top of the ski lift. The Wildcat Ridge Trail had not been broken out since the last storm. The first steep pitch was a bit slippery with the fresh snow. Deep drifts on the short bit of trail up to 2 feet deep. The observation deck is almost level with the current snow pack. Views were hard to come by with the clouds in and out and blowing snow. A few strong gusts nearly knocked me over on the observation deck. Wildcat Ridge Trail beyond the observation deck was not broken out. I would imagine there are a lot of deep drifts going across there right now. I did have some snow balling under my snowshoes at the end of the hike as we approached the bottom with the warmer temps. |
