Comments
Comments: Great day to check off these 2 peaks. Winds were tolerable - only on the peak ascents and not constant. Monroe is icy, but the new snow from Sunday’s storm gave good cover to ice on Washington. Surprised that we had to wear our snowshoes right from the trail head until we got to the hut & then switched to crampons. Must be 6-8” of new snow and not packed yet. Quite a few skiers were out and had gone before us on the trail, but even so, without shoes, we sank. Only a handful of hikers took advantage of this winter wonderland day. Thanks Bob for accompanying me & giving me the confidence to hike these.
