Comments
Comments: Report largely to report the numerous blowdowns - went up and back to Carter Notch hut. Trail is well packed out so boots, light traction or snowshoes work. Of course one step off the trail and you're up above your knees in snow so many postholes alongside the trail. Wind and some flurries left parts of the trail above Carter Dome junction covered in an inch or two of powder but trail was still obvious. There are a number of blowdowns on the trail, specifically above the Carter Dome junction. One below the junction you may need to crawl under and one additional crawl under on the stretch heading down to the hut - the others all have little side paths to get around. Lots of snow in the notch - the hut croo has done a yeoman's job keeping the entrance open - you hike down an impressive snowbank to get to the door! Many out today - ran across a party of 30 heading up to the hut as we were heading down.
