Beautiful day for a hike. 100+ mile visibility. One of the best views in the Whites where you can see the Pinkham Notch and Crawford Notch Peaks as well as the Pemigewasett Peaks, Sandwich Range and Maine all the way to the coast. Exposed summit with some wind made it somewhat cold. Will be warmer today. Enclosed fire tower at top which you can enter provides some warmth. Trail is packed all the way with some post holes. Trail was getting soft in sun exposed areas by noon and will be softer today with higher temperatures expected. Micro spikes were fine all the way but snow may become too soft in areas today. Please do not create any more post holes. |
