Comments
Comments: Originally planned on going up Reed Road Trail to the Quarry peaks and looping some off-trail, but decided to head up Old Clough Road which starts at the Forest Society gate. Old Clough comes to a split at the Dave Roberts Quarry Trail after a bit over 1 mile and gives you nice views along the way. You can opt for West Quarry or Rand at the split or go forward and bushwack a little and you will come out in the col between Mack and Anna on the Belknap Range Trail (red trail). Headed up to Rand, then over to Klem and then to Mack, picking up the reverse bushwack back to Old Clough in the col. Very little traffic seen and no human seen car-to-car. Snowshoes were good to use as much of the trail was not touched at all for a while until first more recent track seen at junction of Belknap Range (red) and Dave Roberts. One tricky spot coming own Rand at some rocky ledges under the snow that have ice on them, but some slow cautious movements and is OK. Some post-holes as you get to Mack and head to the col, so some caution needed there especially as snow is softening up (snowshoes will start sinking in spots themselves). Bit windy but lots of tree cover to break it. Blue skies, nice clouds skirting and nice early spring snow not too sticky and not too hard. Nice day.
