Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One crossing still had a snowbridge which we used (but it also had a log bridge we used on the way back. Other crossings were either short stepovers or rock hops. On one crossing we used a scary log across the brook but it was also rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One rotted spruce blowdown (about 8-10 inches in diameter) was apparently a very recent development across the Moat Mountain Trail about halfway between the Attitash Trail Junction and the summit of North Moat. Lone Wolf was able to shove it off the trail.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful bluebird day. The upper part of the Moat Mountain Trail has certainly seen no use since last Thursday's snow so we were breaking trail on snowshoes. The lower parts before and after Diana's Baths was a solid monorail so Microspikes were sufficient. The upper parts of the Red Ridge Trail appear to have seen hardly anyone all winter so the lack of a visible trail corridor and the sparse yellow blazing made it impossible to follow on the descent especially below the bare rock area of the ridge. Fortunately GPS enabled us to bushwhack along the approximate route of the trail until we got down low enough to find a corridor with blazes that had been used at least a little at some point in the winter. Even the area of the Red Ridge Trail along the brook in the ravine has seen relatively little use all winter so as to cause one to posthole even with snowshoes, as the trail along there hasn't established a stable monorail. Thanks to Lone Wolf and his GPS for a great hike.
