Traversed the Wapack Trail from North Pack down almost to the MA border. Total mixed bag of trail conditions out there.
North Pack and Pack were icy, as they tend to be this time of year. Nothing that our Hillsounds couldn't handle. As we worked our way south, we ran into more ice, soft snow, lots of leaves and mud, bare rock, and more ice. We were in spikes for probably 17 of the ~19 miles we covered today.
Tough conditions out there right now. Our spikes all took a beating on the rocks. It would have taken us another hour (at least) if we kept stopping to take them off and on. So the collective shrug was made, and I think mine were the only pair that actually got damaged. |
