Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, April 7, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Normal parking area for this segment of the M-S Greenway is at the corner of King Street and Jefts Road. King Street is impassable right now for passenger cars (quite muddy) and so we parked at the corner of Faxon Hill Road and King Street. This adds just under a mile of road walk, each way, on King Street.

Comments
Comments: Lovely hike -- spring conditions, so a mix of patches of snow, wet trail, dry trail, mud, and quite a bit of packed ice. Light traction was great for much of this; bareboot the rest.

Nice walking in what is mostly the northern two-thirds of the Andorra Forest, between Washington, NH and Stoddard, NH.

Fine views from the heath barren-clad summits of Jackson Hill, Hubbard Hill, and also, of course, Pitcher Mountain.

There are two active beaver ponds near the start of the hike, one on Jefts Road and the other after the Greenway exits the snowmobile trail and enters the woods, shortly after leaving Jefts Road -- this one is worth a re-visit later in the year; plenty of recently gnawed saplings and some large beech trees.

Just over 14 miles out-and-back, during which time we saw no one all day except a couple of ATVs on King Street, at the beginning, and a family on Pitcher Mountain, the turn-around point.
