Comments
Comments: Another visit to walk the loop around the entire pond. I was given reliable information that this may not be possible (thanks, Christa) but needed to walk the trail anyway, so ...

Easy going and dry conditions at first, then at 1.4 mi. the trail becomes impassable due to flooding between the northernmost section of Kimball Pond and "Great Meadows" to the north. I was able to get part way out along a beaver dam, but it quickly becomes submerged (beavers, if you're going to build a dam, make it so humans can use it ;). This very wide crossing is probably more feasible later in the year and wouldn't be any problem at all in winter. I turned back here.

At 0.4 mi. from the boat launch, there is a signed (Mel's Point) but unmarked side path on the left which climbs over a small ridge then descends to a flat, rocky area which likely offered a good outlook over the pond at one point, but trees pretty much block the view now.
