| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Peaked Hill Pond Road was dirt, and slightly wet/muddy, up to the Lumber Road junction. Room for 3-4 cars there. Couldn't drive all the way to the gate. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Only one, right near the bottom, and it was not difficult. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Very few blazes, but a couple signs helped point us in the right direction. Only unsure spot is where the trail rejoins the snowmobile trail after briefly leaving it - take a right there, and be sure to take that left on the way down. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two - they seemed to be doing fine. I don't see why not. |
|
| Bugs: |
None yet. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Nada. |

Georgiana Falls had taken three hours, but we still had some time in the afternoon, so we headed here. The trail is a snowmobile trail almost all the way, so it's easy to follow. Some icy sections, but nothing that micro-spikes couldn't handle easily, and with the warmer temperatures that ice will probably be slush soon. All of the junctions were signed except for the one I mentioned above. Excellent views of a hill (presumably Peaked Hill) from the pond. It looks like some people have camped next to the pond at the end of the trail. The pond was still covered in snow and ice, but I wouldn't recommend going out on it - I would have if it was January or February. The snow was getting softer on our way back. Nice little trail that most people don't know about! |
