Comments
Comments: Walked SW'ly along Goodhue Hill Road (Class 6 / abandoned). Really sweet old woods road with stone walls and cellar holes. Road was spring muddy with rotten melting snow. At a point slightly E-NE'ly of the peak, began bushwhack to summit. Woods were open and easy to travel through. We used microspikes at some point as there were still patches of slippery snow. Around 1700', at a point east of the peak, we came upon a quarry site of sorts and we found a hand-cut stone. (We wondered if this could have been a site for some of the stone that made those beautiful Shaker stone buildings down in Enfield.) Summit was recognized. As the woods were better than the muddy road, we switched to snowshoes and descended NE towards the sharp curve on Goodhue Hill Road. Microspikes or barebooted out along the road back to our cars.

Woods were gorgeous with evidence of moose, porcupine and deer. Finding the quarry site and seeing a couple of cellar holes added to the fun trip.

Nice hike today with JEM3, Nate, Anne & Roger.
