Comments
Comments: Knight's Hill Trail starts out as a snowmobile/ATV trail heading moderately uphill for about .2 miles. Pretty muddy as the road is melting. At the height of land, it turned left and headed through an open field, then back into the woods, climbing a little less steeply. This section had intermittent patches of fairly solid snow and some ice but can be managed without traction. Summit Trail forks to the right about 3/4 mile in. Summit trail climbs fairly gradually to a viewpoint with limited views of Rowes Hill. Mostly dry trail. Went back to Knight's Hill Trail and continued to just beyond the Blitzer Easement West Side Trail. We took a heading for the first Rowes Hill bump, starting our bushwhack. We slabbed gradually uphill through open dry woods, then had to head straight up a steeper section filled with cedars and calf deep snow patches. Once past this section it was a moderate hike to the first bump. Saw some orange tags heading toward the higher bump, so headed down into the col then up to a high point. No cairn, so we continued following the tags to the summit cairn and peak register jar. Signed in, then headed to the col between the two and headed straight down, avoiding the thick cedar band until we hit Knight's Hill Trail once again. Followed it back to our car.
