The Old Bridle Path and Mt. Morgan Trail parking lots and trails are *closed* for mud season. Pinehurst Road is pretty heavily posted, so there's very little room to park now. |

I recollect a widowmaker near the barn, a blowdown about halfway up Pasture, one or two on the ridge, and a few large ones on East Rattlesnake. We cleaned up a bunch of deadfall and minor blowdowns. |

| Comments: |
The main Rattlesnake/Squam Range trails are still closed for mud season. I suspect Old Bridle Path may still be sloppy in places. Eastern slopes could also be sloppy.
Pasture Trail has fully thawed and was dry.
Ridge Trail was mostly dry with just a tiny patch of snow near the col and a few wet ledges.
East Rattlesnake Trail was mostly dry with a couple of minor patches of mud down low, probably from the rain.
Squam Lake is still mostly iced over, but cracks are showing.
Trailing arbutus is now in bloom on the Pasture Trail. Also noted for the first time Hepatica on that trail, near the top. Looks like a few may be opening up with many more close. Also noted a Hepatica bloom on the powerline right of way.
Nice early evening weather - partly sunny, relatively warm. Good to hear the peepers and loon calls. |
