Comments
Comments: Today wasn’t the most fun we have had on the trail. I have needed these two to finish my fourth round so we decided to give it a whirl. Down low the trail is either wide enough to walk next to the monorail or completely clear of snow. As you near the Sandwich Wilderness sign you are going to want snowshoes as they are your best bet to combat the inevitable postholing. After the last crossing I took us too high and didn’t turn left early enough so we bushwhacked five hundred yards back to the trail and on the way had plenty of four foot postholes. We corrected my mistake on the way down so the left should be more obvious. On the way down I broke a snowshoe and my zip tie fix didn’t last long. I tried the one snowshoe thing but it wasn’t happening so I ended up postholing in bareboots to add to the fun.

I would strongly suggest avoiding north facing trails for a few more weeks. Conditions are changing quickly these days.
