A lovely, lovely day up high! Parked at 'lower' Ammo Lot (USFS, the one with the outhouses), took Jewell to Boundary line trail, up JNR to Caps. Zero wind, t shirt weather up high, complete with a summit beer!
The short section of Jewell and all of Boundary are snow free, wet, but clear for takeoff. JNR is extremely soft and you can posthole in the mud with your boots. Cap's Ridge is about 80% clear of snow at this point, its sporadic small sections of snow below timber. After timber its clear sailing. Dry, bare rocks to the summit.
Bareboot all day, zero need for spikes or snowshoes (both got rides) |
