Well what a day what a day! Jefferson for May and some nice redlining. Jewell and boundary line was a little muddy but nothing significant and can easily walk through it. Jefferson notch rd still had some snow patches on it. Caps ridge only had small sections of snow which i was shocked there were not more. We brought snowshoes and never needed them nor did we need spikes. Views for days! Anything above treeline was free of snow and dry. The cornice was practically clear sailing too only - few snowspots which should not be there if this warm weather keeps it up! It was pretty windy and brisk but nothing too bad for May. The snowfield on the gulfside was just soft enough for us to side step and get across with ease. If that was frozen it would not be safe and snowshoes wouldn’t have helped(campons needed for safe pass). We did an out an back to the peak and blue bird day it had become. We then finished out the cornice. Postholed very fewtimes all day. I went to my hip and i am 5’10” so that was fun ha! Nordic gal had to come dig my foot out as it was packed in. We saw no one all day! What a day above treeline with some fun redlining and a peak for May.
