| Comments: |
Nice and easy trails (old logging and carriage roads) to reach a peak with great views - trek of roughly 9 miles. Trails were generally dry bottom to top with occasional mud
- with the exception of a short stretch right at the trailhead where you need to walk though several inches of mud and water for a few yards and the upper section of the oak ridge cutoff which always has its mud and running water. There was still the fence blocking snowmobiles on the high ridge trail (by the pond) walk around to the right. Summit views were extraordinary today dozens of peaks visible out to the presidentials and beyond - well worth the visit. We did encounter a fair number of empty water and beer bottles in the upper section of the high ridge trail. We packed out quite a number but there are still some left near the snowmobile kiosk 1/2 mile from the summit. |
