Comments
Comments: The trail was relatively dry with some avoidable mud portions, all the way up until >3000ft elevation. At that point an unstable monorail began and for a bit, you could nimbly proceed or stick to the sides of it. It was a bit icy, so I would recommend light traction at least. Snow shoes are a definite no because there's simply not enough width to the monorail.

Was pleasantly surprised to only post hole once or twice the entire day. Last week I tried another approach to these mountains from the Franconia Notch parkway, via Lonesome Lake, Fishin Jimmy, etc. but the snow was so soft and I post-holed incessantly that I decided to turn back around the 3000 ft mark. Was happy that this wasn't the case today on the Mt Kinsman trail!
