| Comments: |
Significant snow (estimate up to 3-4 foot depth) up high in the woods, especially along the ridge. No snow down low and trail was mostly dry, getting progressively wetter and muddier going up. Weak, intermittent monorail for approximately the second quarter of the Mt Tecumseh trail. Lots of snow in the drainage gully where the trail crosses (slightly less than halfway up). Most of the mud and snow/ice can be bypassed in the lower sections. Fairly wide monorail for the upper half of the Mt Tecumseh trail which was passable with bare boots going up but would recommend microspikes, especially for the descent. Snowshoes would not be very useful unless going off-trail up high. Uncertain what the conditions are after last night's snow (5/13). |
