Snow is all gone! Wildflowers are blooming big time. A few wet puddles and the streams are running strong but easy to rock hop along. Views were good since the clouds were high. From Pike's Peak excellent view of Cannon Cliff and Franconia Range. Big rock cairn is not the summit look around the trail clearly goes higher and you'll run into the summit sign. From here two paths leave the summit the one on the left going dead south with bring to the private land view cliff-bad enough to trespass but don't be a total jerk and build rock cairns--grand view south to Kearsare and Ragged had spots of snow on its trails and Cardigan looks cold and bare. The other to the right is the Plymouth Mountain Trail. From just below the Plymouth Mountain summit sign bushwhack down a couple minutes to reach the open ledges with big vista to the East! No idea why there isn't a real spur path to this nice open area--lots of moose poop between here and the summit. Great hike best on a dry day lots of rocks and open ledge to cross after Pike's Peak. |
