Comments
Comments: I should have gotten an earlier start. I found the gate was closed requiring me to hike up FR 429. I turned left at logging yard and took road that headed towards Ames. Forest Road was boring so when Stevens Brook came in view I said to myself the brook has some nice looking cascades so I dropped down to brook and began following it since it was going in the same direction. I reached remnants of old dam and crossed over where I came across an old road and bit of logging. I went back to following the pretty brook and eventually came upon very ancient road on west side of brook. It was the old road shown on antique topo maps. I followed the old road as it climbed steeply in side hill fashion. Eventually I topped out in bowl formation and headed for the col between Ames and Currier. I caught the ridge line up to Ames in fading light. I enjoyed time out on ledges and then bailed out via the ATV/log road drops off peak to west and was at road at dusk followed by moonlit road walk no cars passing me and listened to peepers in wet lands along the way back to gate at FR 429. Another great day in the bushes!!!
