Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes:
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All simple step overs or rock hops. Nothing of note.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Saw a lot of places that looked like off trail bypasses in the woods. Made for some confusing moments as I looked around for blazes and cairns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 4 dogs, all looked happy.
Bugs
Bugs: So many bugs, pretty much everywhere, even the parking lot and summit. Gave up fighting them after my 4th application of bug spray. They got worse as the day went on, despite the sun coming out. Saw one guy wrapped his sweatshirt over his head to try to fend them off, but the way he flailed his arms, it probably was not very effective. Alas, there is no option to check "Fumigation truck" under the recommended equipment section. :)

Comments
Comments: Slick wet rocks everywhere on the top 1/3 of the trail. It actually took me longer to descend thsn ascend becsuse I was being very careful in this area. I thought the two areas where you climb up a steep pile of rocks and roots were a bit tricky because of this. 1 hour uo, 1.5 hours down; turtle pace for me today.
