Overall a great trip with the high point being the magnificent thoreau falls and shoal pond!
Eastside trail to the wilderness trail was fairly uneventful with the exception of some erosion that can be easily maneuvered. The thoreau falls bridge has been decommissioned although is technically still there without the railings, just two logs. Thoreau falls trail after the bridge was slightly hard to follow with some erosion and soft snow patches. Thoreau falls is impassable as the water levels are so high and requires a bushwack to the ethan pond trail footbridge. Ethan pond trail has some soft snow patches and once you hit the shoal pond trail, it is pretty much standing water the entire time. Deep snow patches still remain in some sections high as our thighs. |
