Comments
Comments: Walked up Old Grafton Road passing over the two bridges and looking for the small cairn and path described by another hiker, but must have missed the trail. Finally did take the pathway to the Mica Mine which is signed and cairned. Chips of mica everywhere and the site of the mind was amazing: deep crevasse with a pool at the bottom. Lost the trail just above the mine so started to bushwhack to the closest height of land. Came upon an old snowmobile trail which we followed until it became ridiculously muddy so headed more directly toward the peak. Hit first bump then followed the ridge around. Eventually started final climb to the summit ledge where we found the small cairn and jar. Sunny and breezy which helped a bit with the black flies while we signed in and had a water break. We took a more direct heading straight down to the road which turned out to be quite steep at times. Varied terrain: some clear woods, some marshy areas and one large section of spindly new grown trees that were easy to pass through. Finally hit an old snowmobile trail which brought us to the second wooden bridge! Back down the road to our car. A bit of a round about way to go but glad we did that after seeing how steep the direct heading was!
