Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Charles Brook is crossable on rocks - with a couple of rather long steps/jumps.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Bicknell Ridge has 3 large blowdowns and a lot of debris. The water-bars are totally clogged up. Everywhere else is just very minor stuff - all in pretty good shape. We heard from another hiker that there are several large blowdowns on the Northern section of the Circle tr. The loop trail to Chandler Gorge Brook has a big blowdown.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The Southern part of Circle tr. (up to the South Peak) is very difficult for K9s. The rest is fine and in good shape. Saw one dog on the trails and his owner was planning on descending via Slippery Brook (traveling counter-clock-wise).
Bugs
Bugs: Out in force at the lower sections later in the day - as the wind diminished and temperatures increased.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost: One trekking pole (on the steep parts of the Southern section) and one glove (in the col between the two peaks). Please e-mail me if you find these items/carry them out. Otherwise, thank you for cleaning up our mess!

Comments
Comments: Trails mostly dry with a couple of wet spots on the steeps of the Southern section of the circle tr. Some short snow-sections just before South Baldface, in the col between the peaks and just after North Baldface (traveling clock-wise).

The section after the Bicknell tr. re-joins the Baldface Circle tr. is very wet and muddy. Also, there has been logging activity in that area (seems to be completed for now - although I'm not 100% sure). What an eyesore but the impact on the hiking trails is minimal.
