Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found: a blue platypus bag with water between Mizpah Hut and Jackson on the Webster Cliff Trail. It has a large clip, but a blowdown must have snagged it off a pack. I have it, please contact me and I'll get it back to you.

Comments
Comments: Snow cover does not start until between 3000 and 3500 feet, just dry or wet trail. On the Crawford Path, patchy monorail starts about half mile or so below Mizpah Cutoff Junction. After that it becomes more continuous and spikes are extremely helpful. No snow on the summit of Pierce. Between Pierce and Eisenhower, there are pockets of snow in the trees, but the rocks and ledges, plus the summit cone of Eisenhower are all snow free. Light traction can be helpful, depending on your balance and confidence levels on the snow.

Between the summit of Pierce and the summit of Jackson on the Webster Jackson Trail, including Mizpah hut area, is mostly still covered in snow/monorail, but with some bare spots here and there. Some of the snow still 3 to 4 feet deep, and lightly traveled with some blowdowns here and there. In some sections the snow is soft and undermined with water running underneath. Thankfully, the temperatures were not really warm or this section would have been very tough. Snowshoes actually helped to prevent thigh deep postholing in this section, although awkward to use on the bare spots. The snowshoes did not get a free ride today. Navigation is not too bad, as the snow is low enough to see the blazes. The summit ledges of Jackson are bare, and down the Webster Jackson Trail to just below the large boulders, so no more snow shoes.

Snow and dragonback monorail disappears around the Webster Jackson Trail split, the remainder of the trail is an easy walk out.

Welcome to spring in the Whites! ;)

Fun day out with HikerEd, Guy, Bo and Van.
