Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels were pretty low, some of the crossings were a bit muddy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Wood bridges over the mud could use some repair. A few down trees in the trail. Overgrown trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our dog did fine. He was a little scared going down the short scramble from Owl's Head to Mt. Martha because it was steep, wet, and slippery, but he figured it out. He was the only dog on the trail today.
Bugs
Bugs: Terrible! It was very buggy today. There was a lot of rain recently.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Some old torn clothes just past the trailhead.

Comments
Comments: The bugs were unpleasant and the mud was annoying but it was otherwise a great hike! Beautiful views from the top and we basically had the mountain to ourselves today. Don't be fooled by the short mileage, there is quite a bit of elevation gain (2450 ft) for 3.2 miles.
