Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I drove right past the trail sign traveling east on north road. It’s right across the street from a house on your left if traveling east. Limited roadside parking. Only one other car there when I arrived at 10:30ish. Short road walk along a dirt road, then paved road to get from Centennial trailhead back to my car at Peabody Brook.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossings were a bit high but all doable. The only ones you’d have to be careful about after a big rain are on Peabody Brook Trail I think.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Not bad given the winter we had and that the trail hasn’t been travelled much this year I imagine. Lots of debris in the trail that would be easy to clear. Many blowbowns but none too cumbersome. I only recall small ones that could be handled with a hand saw. Peabody Brook and Centennial Trail are blazed in blue and the Mahoosuc Trail is blazed in white for the AT. Everything was at least somewhat blazed, the best being Centennial Trail. Peabody Brook Trail was quite overgrown and tight in spots in the mid to mid-upper trail. The trail was still fairly obvious in my opinion though. The Mahoosuc Trail was easy enough to follow. Only one section had me looking for the trail. I believe it was shortly before Trident Col. The Giant Falls and Bald Ledge Spur were signed and I had no issues following them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: If they can handle the occasional rocky scramble I’d think they’d be okay. None seen.
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly very little! They were not bothersome except occasionally when we stopped later in the day. It may have been because we were moving pretty fast though. It was also fairly cool especially towards the beginning of the hike.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found what looked like an Asian fan on the Mahoosuc Trail. It looked quite out of place.

Comments
Comments: So glad I got out Friday :) When it started to sprinkle around when I got to the jct with Dryad Brook Trail I considered turning back but I’m glad I didn’t! It didn’t rain long (although I seemed to get very wet given I put on my rainjacket) and it cleared up later to give us some sun.

Loop hike up Peabody Brook Trail, across the Mahoosuc Trail, and down the Centennial Trail taking all the spur trails along the way. I caught up with a hiker at Giant Falls and we talked briefly. We passed each other another time or two and then about halfway through the hike we decided to stick together. Very nice to meet you Ross :D

For redliners... as mentioned above, the Giant Falls Spur and Bald Cap Ledge Spur are signed and obvious. Wocket Ledge is practically right on the trail so would be hard to miss. Gaia shows the high point of Wocket Ledge a ways to the east though so beware of that. The spur between two cairns mentioned in the guidebook is really just a bushwhack up to some ledges. No herd path or cairns.

There was a wee bit of snow on the Mahoosuc Trail. If you didn’t step carefully there was just enough to get in your boots. Probably gone by today. No need for gaiters. There was lots of mud at times but not mud water.
