| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Easy to miss Unknown Pond trailhead. We made the mistake of crossing the bridge and following the parking sign to the turnout/lot. We missed the trailhead sign which is on the left just before crossing the bridge by the trailhead parking sign. Not a big deal, but since we were the only car there today, we could have easily parked in the small turnout at the trailhead. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Just a few blowdowns on Kilkenny Ridge trail. Easy to climb over or hike around. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Plenty of water for dog to cool off and hydrate. Ours took a nice swim in Unknown Pond on the way up. Nice place for dog to clean up at Unknown Pond trailhead before jumping back into vehicle. Ours was the only dog encountered today. We saw to humans off-leash, but they were well behaved. |

| Bugs: |
Bugs were not an issue today thanks to a steady breeze. Won’t be long before they are here in abundance. |

| Comments: |
Unknown Pond Trail is in good shape. No snow. Any mud or standing water can be easily traversed or avoided. The hike through the large stand of birch was enjoyable. Trail is easy to follow, but if there are any blazes on this trail, I never saw one. Great choice for Memorial Day. We saw no hikers on Unknown Pond Trail. We saw two solo hikers on Kilkenny Ridge Trail, and that was it for the entire day. Kilkenny Ridge from Unknown Pond to The Horn was mostly free of snow. Just a few patches that were turning into slush. Water and mud on this stretch of Kilkenny Ridge did not present a problem. |
