| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Drove up through Fish Hatchery all the way to trailhead. Only 3 cars there at 8am. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable) |

| Recommended Equipment: |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
Several smaller crossings all rock hoppable with ability to stay dry. One crossing was really running. We were able to rock hop, waterproof boots submerged. Wading would have been doable |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
First time on Cabot. Trail is somewhat difficult to follow at times. There are very few blazes (we counted three all day). There were many times we found ourselves following tracks and hoping we were on trail. Few blowdowns in need of clearing. Would like to see a sign marking the true summit past the cabin. Everyone we saw today was questioning whether or not the small cairn marked it. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Lots of awesome, friendly dogs! All were unleashed but considerate and well behaved. |
|
| Bugs: |
Lots of black flies and mosquitos at lower elevation. The trail is super muddy with some standing water in places. Breeding grounds!! We wore bug spray and kept moving and didn't get too bothered. |

| Comments: |
Short monorail just before the Cabot Cabin. It has melted just enough that we were able to walk along the sides without issue. Spikes might come in handy - but the section was so short we didn't even bother putting them on. More monorail and some deeper snow between Cabin and summit, but very soft and bare-bootable. No more need for traction!! |
