Comments
Comments: Hit the trail at 8:00. Saw a few groups on Lincoln Woods Trail, but the trail was quiet from the turn for Black Pond Trail until the summit cairn. The Black Pond Bushwhack was easy to follow with the occasional assist from Gaia. I'm not sure if the crossings before Owls Head would be rock-hoppable--we just charged through. The ghost of the monorail has finally vanished, at least on Owl's Head--there was a little snow starting around 4,000 feet, which was very manageable without traction. We took Brutus Bushwhack down, which was easy to find and follow. J wanted to check out the other water crossings, so we took Lincoln Brook to Franconia Brook. The deepest of the crossings was just over my knees (short/average height lady here, for reference) and so expect wet feet if you take this route. Back in the car by 3:30.
