Most of are easy to step over, under or around, but there is one large blowdown about a quarter mile south of the Reel Brook Trail that fell in the trail. There is also a cluster of 10 or so blowdowns north of the Reel Brook Trail (not included in the count above), but these are easy to get under. The trail between Mt. Comments
Comments: This is probably the muddiest trail I've hiked in the WMNF, but most of the mud is avoidable via rocks and logs that trail crews have placed. I went in a mud hole over my ankle once, and I waded through several inches of water on the submerged plank walkway at Harrington Pond. There were a few short patches of snow on South Kinsman, but I only postholed once. Rain and thunderstorms were forecast, but it didn't rain once as far as I could tell. There was moisture on the trees from the fog, but I didn't get as wet as I thought I would.

I met a thru-hiker who had started from Harper's Ferry. He said he had seen a couple of thru-hikers the day before who had started at Springer. I saw a woman who looked like she was thru-hiking. I was surprised to see thru-hikers this early in the season. I saw 4 other hikers with full packs.

I had some nice views of Moosilauke on South Twin, which I didn't expect given how overcast it was. There was undercast to the east, but only high clouds to the west. Beautiful.
