Comments
Comments: Trail started wet from the rain that came through yesterday. Plenty of muddy spots and several large mud pits. Angled ledge was wet in most places but thankfully it has a good grip. The flatish section just before the main summit was pretty much underwater, needs some drainage. Nice views from the summit as usual. Once back at the uppermost switchback, I turned off trail and followed the old trail/herd path towards Middle Osceola. Initially the old trail was easy to follow down to the col. The old trail continued on a bit more downhill from where I turned off it towards Middle. There is an old set of blowdowns with some rocks stacked on them marking the turn off the old trail and on to the Herd Path. The Herd Path was quite vague and tough to follow at times. I made my way towards the summit and wandered about for a bit looking for the highpoint. I did not find a canister/jar but I believe I was at the highpoint. I retraced my steps back to the Mt Osceola Trail. The only bit of snow I encountered was on the Herd Path which was minimal, no need for traction. It started to rain a bit on my way down and dark clouds continued to threaten. Nice to knock out another Trailwrights Peak.
