| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
ACCESS ISSUES! The bridge over the Rocky Branch is out on Jericho Road. Parking is 1.8 miles down the road from where it used to be and the road is blocked by a gate. Jericho Road is washed out in some places - no problem walking, but was obviously unfit for vehicles. Instead of 2 miles to the junction of Rocky Branch Trail and the Stairs Col Trail, it's 3.8 miles. The bridge abutment is out and there is a rickety stool someone left there that makes climbing up possible. Water too deep for wading and pretty cold for crossing unclothed! |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Lower Stairs Brook easy enough to cross on rocks a little upstream from the Rocky Branch trail. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
An AMC crew came down as we went up, cutting out blow downs. Rocky Branch was in good shape - flat and easy, Stairs Col Trail was mostly dry the first 2/3's but wet, slippery and muddy at the top. Davis Path was wet and muddy in many places. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't have a dog with us on this trip but it would have been fine if we had. |
| Bugs: |
Mosquitoes and black flies ravenous. |
| Lost and Found: |
Somebody lost a bottle of Ben's 100 on the trail. Sorry you lost it, but we were happy to have it! |

| Comments: |
There is supposed to be a sign marking an overlook off Davis Path not far north west of the junction of the Stairs Col Trail and the Davis Path. It's not there, but you should pay attention to the map and find it. It is a really beautiful view - one of the nicest. |
