| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are in good shape except lots of standing water on approach from Cannonballs to Kinsman Jct. Only one blowdown (sorry, forget where). I did TONS of pruning on Hi-Cannon. The lookouts need a lot more, I was running behind schedule so couldn't get it all. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Some moron tethered there dog to their car in the parking lot on a 30 foot rope and when I passed it came charging at me. Not happy, didn't even get an apology from the owner. Tons of dogs on the trails, a few were terribly tired. Just don't understand dog owners. Uggg. |
|
| Bugs: |
None except for S. Kinsman, where there was a battalion of them waiting for me. |

Peaks, 28, 29, 30. Very challenging. This 12.4 mile loop hikes like it is 15-16 miles. Cannonballs up and downs, chewed me up. I also managed a good fall off the wet rocks here. Nothing hurt except my pride and badly sprained and swollen finger. Completed the loop in 9:15 which included a couple 10 minute breaks at the peaks and another 20 min or so of pruning. Beautiful day and only saw three parties until I hit the Jct., then the AT was a free way for a Monday. Lots of seepage here and there, so lots of wet rocks. You need to take your time.
Not sure what it is with people in this area. I make it a point to say "hello" to everybody I pass, many pass without a reply. I don't think I look like an axe murderer. Passed one lady who had 1/2" fake eyelashes and another below Lonesome Lake who had on a printed squirt, leather thong sandals, and a shoulder purse! Really glad I am done with the Franconia Notch peaks for the summer. |
