Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks South Tripyramid, Middle Tripyramid, North Tripyramid, NH
Trails
Trails: Livermore Trail, Mt Tripyramid Trail, Pine Bend Brook Trail, Scaur Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 22, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Almost full at 10:00. 3 of 4 hikes I've done this June have had the most cars at their lots that I've ever seen before. Wondering if Franconia Notch situation is spreading hiker use elsewhere. Few hundred feet of new pavement on eastern end of Tripoli Road (can always hope for more).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Got feet a little wet on crossing at start of south branch of Mt Tripyramid Tr. but looked like a better crossing slightly down stream going down the bank.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Couple of blowdowns between Middle and North causing herd paths. On the topic of herd paths; the upper section of Pine Bend Brook Tr. may have more herd paths (sometimes on both sides of trail) than any other trail in the Whites.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Shiya (Corey's dog) did North Slide to South Slide. Some dogs may have issues with open steepness and slick spots.
Bugs
Bugs: If you stopped they were horrible. Winds helped somewhat up higher.

Comments
Comments: Great weather and views today on the Tri's. I went up South and down Scaur Ridge but everyone that I talked with said North Slide was mostly dry and fine. Worst part looping this route is upper section of Pine Bend Brook Tr.; lots of wet awkward drops too high for normal stepping. Nice running into Corey & Shiya again and the BA hikers Ginger & Casey coming in from Livermore off the Kanc. Trails fairly dry except for first stretch on south end of Mt. Tripyramid Tr. which was still wet and muddy.
