| Water Crossing Notes: |
Most streams were rock hop'able. Hopped across Franconia Brook on the way in, but not on the way out. Water levels were up with the rain shower. Had to wade across Lincoln Brook crossing both ways. Both were manageable at knee-high. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Not really. The herd path on the way to Owl's Head peak is a mess, but it's not an official trail so there's that. Lots of blow downs. Only 1 wasn't worked around. I had to crawl under it and then reach back and pull my pack through |

Yeah, kind of how this season is going. Wore a long sleeve shirt given recent experience. Applied deet about 7+ times. Only got bitten a bit by mosquitoes with all that |

My first Owl's Head hike. Relatively few folks until the afternoon. Lincoln Woods is in fine shape as always. Franconia Brook is fine with little to complain about - mud here and there. Lincoln Brook has a fair amount of mud - nothing that can't be worked around, but annoying. Brook crossing written about above. The slide is for real. It was harder than any write-up I read ahead of the hike. Very loose rock. Almost put my hand on a snake sunning itself, which wakes you up. Then, when the rain shower started, it got really fun and slippery. I won't forget it, but be aware this will take some time up and down. Path at the top is everywhere with one blow down where you have to crawl. Met some fun folks, esp early as there were some interesting solo hikers. I did feel like I was out in the wilderness, which isn't something you get on the popular mountains with views. This one has some nice charm to it. Wish there was less mosquitoes and mud. |
