Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, July 18, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I started this trek at the formal parking area on First Crown Point Road in Strafford. A small parking area for Scruton Trail also exists along Scruton Road in Farmington. This road is unsigned where it leaves First Crown Point Road and looks like a driveway. The road is very rough and I only got 0.1 mi. before it became washed out. High clearance 4WD could probably make it. I suspect coming in from the northern end is better. There was one vehicle at the trailhead.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The only blazed trail here is Fire Tower Loop. The others are signed but not blazed, but do have cairns in ledgy areas. Where Little Blue Job Trail turns sharply off Perimeter Road for the summit at a four-way junction is not signed and needs one. No blowdowns anywhere. Portions of Little Blue Job Trail continue to erode from heavy use.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. There are always lots of dogs here. Again, don't say your dog is friendly if it's literally standing there barking, growling and being aggressive toward other people.
Bugs
Bugs: Hardly any. Some deer flies in the blueberry fields north of Little Blue Job.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found lots of ripe blueberries. :)

Comments
Comments: Some wandering to check out a few newly-signed trails and one I didn't know about.

Pond Trail is the route that leaves from the fire tower and heads north, descending to the little pond in the col between the peaks. It connects the two summits.

Little Blue Job Trail is the heavily-traveled route to the wonderful, ledgy Little Blue Job, and leaves from Fire Tower Loop. The trail continues over the summit and descends down the other side to meet Canney Road, which I presume is an old town road, as there is a forgotten cemetery at this junction.

Perimeter Road is the road depicted on the USGS which loops around Little Blue Job.

Scruton Trail approaches Little Blue Job from the west via a woods road that heads up through the blueberry pastures north of the summit.

Interesting exploration on the northern side of these peaks. The scouts have been hard at work putting up new signs at junctions, which makes the maze of paths in this area less confusing. All trails were dry and a fair amount of people were out.
