| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A little brushy on Howker Ridge, but nothing to be too concerned with. Trails are in awesome shape; thank you maintainers! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Would be great for pups until Star Lake, depending on their scrabling skills. Not a heck of a lot of water, especially above treeline, but you can fill up at Madison Spring Hut. Talus can be tough on their pads if they aren't callused over, so booties may be a good idea. |
|
| Bugs: |
We wore deet and still had them around us, but not really biting. They were more prevalent down low especially when we stopped moving. |

Great day to bring my 9Y.O. backpacking for his 19th and 20th 4k. Stopped at Madison spring for a while to soak up some sun and refill water before heading over Adams and down to Crag Camp for the night. All trails in great shape with minimal items of note. Strange how few people we saw given the temps, clear skies, and minimal wind. Crag Camp saw only us and 6 others for the night (RMC cabins are hidden gems). Helped 2 groups of hikers figure their way down from Adams as they had no map and were curious which trails to head down; people bring a map and a compass! Got to Crag just before the skies opened and thundered roared thankfully. Tons of moose exhaust along Howker Ridge and some tracks but no sightings. Great day to be above treeline for so long. |
