| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Arrived at Ravine Lodge Rd at 9am and was "only" about a 1/4 mile away from the Lodge and trailheads. Upon return at 2:30pm the Road was packed out - it was an expectedly busy day with the nice weather. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
All dry or fully bridged - no problems |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Gorge Brook, Snapper, and Carriage Rd are high-traffic trails, well-defined and easy to follow. There are no blazes on this route except on AT portion of Carriage Rd. between Glencliff and Moosilauke summit. Spur to South Peak is getting a little overgrown but easy to follow (and well worth it). Trail sign for South Spur says .1 mile to summit, but I believe that's a bit short (maybe .2 or .25). |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Popular 4k for dogs as trails have descent amount of (lightly) running water on the lower levels and easy terrain overall to summit. Saw many dogs out today. |
|
| Bugs: |
Other than a few obnoxious horse flies, no problems. |

| Comments: |
We chose the clockwise route from the Lodge to vary things up a bit as we finished Moosilauke in all 4 seasons. Relatively easy route with nicely defined trails and gradual / moderate ascent from trailhead to summit. After doing this clockwise route, we both agreed that we actually enjoy going up Gorge Brook to the summit better - something about Carriage Rd makes it better for the descent in my opinion whereas Gorge Brook offers a more enjoyable ascent.
We hadn't been to South Peak in a few years and forgot it's well worth the stop - less crowded and comparable 360 views to what you get on Moosilauke summit. Spur to South Peak is a bit overgrown and narrow, but easy to follow.
Overall a very nice day with moderate temps and a refreshing breeze on the summit. |
