Comments
Comments: The Nancy Pond trail is a great route to get into the Pemigewasset via lesser used trail. Nancy Pond cascades, Nancy Pond and Thoreau Falls were the highlights of the hike. The herdpath to the summit of Mount Nancy was easy to follow. Some sections were steep and some an easy grade along old logging paths. The clouds cleared just before I reached the summit of Mount Nancy. The view to the northeast from the summit was good. It was a nice spot to relax in the sun after getting soaked from the brush on the way up. The rest of the Nancy Pond Trail out to the Carrigain Notch Trail to Stillwater was an easy flat walk and well maintained. The Shoal Pond trail is a little used trail rather brushed in at points. Many of the bog bridges are old and deteriorating. Quite a bit of mud even though there has been little rain. The Ethan Pond Trail (AT) was busy with day and through hikers. Thoreau Falls was a nice resting spot before heading back to the Ethan Pond Trail trailhead at 302. Lots of water available along the entire hike route. 20 miles total.
